Baseball Game Preview: Westview Wolverines vs. Fallbrook Warriors

For the first time this season, Westview will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Fallbrook Warriors at 4:00 p.m. Westview's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Fallbrook's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Westview didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 5-1 win over Christian on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolverines.

Joseph Arango-Manley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other pitching news, Tyler Bissessar looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

Arango-Manley wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mahir Desai, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base. Ezekell Gutierrez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Fallbrook was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Mission Bay. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Warriors have suffered since May 1, 2024.

Fallbrook now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Westview, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.

Westview skirted past Fallbrook 1-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
