Softball Recap: Brookfield East Spartans vs. Menomonee Falls Phoenix
Brookfield East barely beat Menomonee Falls the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans never let the Phoenix get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 back in April.
Layla Diehl made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
