Basketball Recap: Sabine Pass Falls Despite Big Games from Ja'lon Aiken and Don Fowler

Sabine Pass was the 49-41 winner over Big Sandy when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Sabine Pass Sharks fell 48-40 to the Big Sandy Wildcats on Friday. The Sharks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sabine Pass' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Don Fowler, who posted seven points and 12 rebounds, and Ja'Lon Aiken, who scored nine points and five boards. Fowler has become a key player for Sabine Pass: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least eight boards, but 10-14 otherwise. DeMarcus Brannon also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Even though they lost, Sabine Pass smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Sabine Pass' loss dropped their record down to 13-15. As for Big Sandy, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-15.

Looking ahead, Sabine Pass will square off against Danbury at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Big Sandy, they will face off against Deweyville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
