Olympian waltzed into their game on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Everything went their way against the Madison Warhawks as they made off with a 12-4 win. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warhawks, too.
Sophia G Aquino made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Olympian got a massive performance out of Jacqui De Murguia, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and three doubles. Those three doubles gave De Murguia a new career-high. Kailynn Robeson was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Olympian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests.
Olympian pushed their record up to 13-12-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Madison, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-21.
