Anoka gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Monticello Magic with a sharp 3-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tornadoes also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2018.
While Anoka won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-22, 25-18.
Hayden Reeder paced Anoka's offense, picking up 12 kills. Reeder got some help from Kate Trombley and her 28 assists. Reeder was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Ada Nelson and Alayna Opatz certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Nelson had nine digs and two assists, while Opatz had five digs.
Looking ahead, Anoka is headed away from home for the first time to square off against Robbinsdale Armstrong at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Monticello, they will host Rogers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
