Football Recap: Caden Marrs and Ty Simmons Lead the Defense for Glen Rose Win + How To Watch

If Godley wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Glen Rose, they should've done a better job of containing Judd Connally. The Tigers blew past the Wildcats 56-21 on Friday thanks in part to Connally, who rushed for 192 yards and two TDs while picking up 12.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 196 yards and four touchdowns. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 56 yards.

Glen Rose didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Caden Marrs and Ty Simmons. Another thorn in Godley's side was Ryder Ribitzki, who made 19 total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defended one pass.

Despite the loss, Godley still got an impressive performance from Adam Pempsell, who rushed for 190 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.0 yards per carry. Pempsell's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 142 rushing yards. Another player making a difference was Crosby Carmichael, who picked up 120 receiving yards and one TD.

Glen Rose's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Godley, their record is now 2-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Glen Rose will challenge rival Hillsboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,000 yards in their previous games.
