Softball Recap: George Washington Prep's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

George Washington Prep entered their tilt with Magnolia Science Academy Carson on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Vipers 22-6. The Generals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by 15 runs or more this season.

Aracely Gonzales made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

In other batting news, George Washington Prep let Holland Allen and Emily Varela run wild. Allen went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Varela went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits Allen has posted since back in April of 2024. Alison Archila also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

George Washington Prep lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.

George Washington Prep's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Magnolia Science Academy Carson, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, George Washington Prep will challenge Maywood Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Magnolia Science Academy Carson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
