Recap: Jefferson City Jays vs. Tipton Cardinals
After a string of four wins, the Jefferson City Jays's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They lost to Tipton on the road by a decisive 65-48 margin. While losing is never fun, Jefferson City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Tipton is ranked 16th).
Tipton was led to victory by Charlee Bailey and Ava Schlotzhauer. Bailey dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 assists, while Schlotzhauer dropped a double-double on 27 points and 14 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Bailey posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Courtney Edwards, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Jefferson City's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Tipton, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-2.
Jefferson City will be playing at home against Lee's Summit West at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tipton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lincoln at 6:45 p.m. on January 18th. Lincoln is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
