Softball Game Preview: Haddam-Killingworth Cougars vs. Morgan Huskies

Haddam-Killingworth has gone a perfect 10-0 against Morgan recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Cougars will square off against the Huskies at 3:45 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Haddam-Killingworth has three straight wins, Morgan has 17 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Haddam-Killingworth barely beat East Hampton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars blew past the Bellringers 14-0 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Haddam-Killingworth let Grace LaConte and Grace Natanzon run wild. LaConte went 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI, while Natanzon got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three hits gave LaConte a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia LaTorre, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI.

Haddam-Killingworth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Hampton only posted an OBP of .200.

Meanwhile, Morgan lost 20-1 to North Branford on Wednesday.

Haddam-Killingworth's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Morgan, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.

Haddam-Killingworth took their win against Morgan in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
