Section 6 Erie County III league recap: 5/29/12

Behind a 2-1 record over the past week, Maryvale made the biggest jump in the New York state rankings, all the way from 506 to 439.

Having lost five games in a row, Cheektowaga is mired in the league's worst slump. The Warriors lost 3-1 to Amherst Central last week.

Depew's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 18 hits and 12 walks to lead the league in both categories. The Wildcats' pitchers have been charged with only 143 hits and have struck out 141 batters. Aaron Ertel is tops on the staff with 62 Ks.

Depew's Sean Driscoll finished his week with seven hits, tops in Section 6 Erie County III. His 28 hits for the year are first in the league, and he boasts a .444 batting average.
