Football Recap: Eastern Guilford Piles Up the Points Against Orange

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eastern Guilford). They blew past the Orange Panthers 35-0 on Friday. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Panthers are ranked 324th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eastern Guilford was led to victory by Javion Majette and Tyler Whaley-Melvin. Majette rushed for 81 yards and a pair of TDs, while Whaley-Melvin gained 141 total yards and two touchdowns. What's more, Majette racked up 163 passing yards, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

Eastern Guilford now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Orange, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, after each having a week off, Eastern Guilford and Southeast Guilford will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. This will be the Wildcats' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Orange, they will head out on the road to face off against Seaforth at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The matchup will also give the Panthers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
