Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Ninety Six's 13th in Last 15 Outings

Ninety Six barely beat Pelion the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 14-3 victory on Friday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by six runs or more this season.

Meghan Kimberling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jocelyn Coleman, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Evie Montgomery, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ninety Six kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Ninety Six has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Pelion, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 16-7 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ninety Six will venture away from home to take on Saluda at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pelion, they will head out to face off against Chesnee at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
