Volleyball Recap: Amherst Finds Playoff Glory Versus Cross County

Amherst had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Cross County Cougars on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Broncos also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.

Amherst's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Breckyn Layne Veskerna led the charge by getting 25 digs. Layne Veskerna is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Londyn Mitchell, who had 18 digs and one assist.

Amherst is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-5 record this season. As for Cross County, the loss snapped their winning streak at 13 matches and leaves them with a 26-9 record.

Looking ahead, Amherst will challenge Exeter-Milligan/Friend at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Cross County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
