Gloucester City had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Pennsville Memorial Eagles 44-20. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lions' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Eagles are ranked 250th).

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gloucester City will square off against Lower Cape May at 6:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Pennsville Memorial, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge West Deptford at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
