Softball Preview: South Fulton Red Devils vs. University School of Jackson Bruins

The South Fulton Red Devils will head out on the road to square off against the University School of Jackson Bruins at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Fulton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.

Last Thursday, South Fulton came up short against Union City and fell 12-8. South Fulton has not had much luck with Union City recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

South Fulton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Gore, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, University School of Jackson had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They had just enough and edged the Bulldogs out 8-7.

Emma Kate Elrod made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off nine hits. Elrod was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, University School of Jackson got a massive performance out of Laura Kate Prater, who went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and a double. Another player making a difference was Maddie Polk, who scored a run while going 4-for-4.

South Fulton's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for University School of Jackson, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
