Basketball Recap: Spencerville Takes Down Ranked St. John's

On Saturday, Spencerville faced St. John in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Spencerville Bearcats managed a 65-61 win over the St. John's Bluejays. For the Bearcats, this counts as revenge for the 65-60 victory the Bluejays walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Spencerville's win bumped their record up to 15-1. As for St. John's, their defeat ended a 17-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-1.

Spencerville has already played their next match (against Bluffton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. St. John's will square off against Versailles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Versailles is on a three-game streak of home wins, St. John's a 12-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
