Recap: Center Hill Mustangs vs. Hutchison Sting
The Center Hill Mustangs came tearing into Thursday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 76-64 victory over Hutchison. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Center Hill's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zarria Shipp, who scored 20 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Shipp has scored at least 25% of Center Hill's points. Jairya Rankins was another key contributor, scoring 24 points along with 3 steals.
Center Hill has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 7-1 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Hutchison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Center Hill will take on Hernando at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Hernando is ranked 34th, while Center Hill is ranked 36th).
