Basketball Recap: San Lorenzo Valley Comes Up Short

San Lorenzo Valley played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 74-46 loss at the hands of the Soledad Aztecs. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 57-43 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

San Lorenzo Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caelen Alsing, who posted eight points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Himmelstrup, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points.

It was another big night for Pablo Morales Iv, who went 10 of 19 from beyond the arc on his way to 36 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals for Soledad. Those six steals gave Morales Iv a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Pedro Morales Jr, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine assists.

San Lorenzo Valley dropped their record down to 4-7 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Soledad, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-8.

San Lorenzo Valley will take on Live Oak at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. San Lorenzo Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.1 points per game this season. As for Soledad, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 68-41 win against Gonzales on the 6th.
