Basketball Recap: Holtville Takes a Loss

Holtville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a blow against the Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets, falling 76-49. The Vikings lost against the Yellow Jackets in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 47-41 score last time.

Palo Verde Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Yasias Green, who went 12 for 17 en route to 27 points in addition to six boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave Green a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaraivion Crowe, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

Holtville's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Palo Verde Valley, their record is now 7-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holtville will host Brawley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Brawley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Palo Verde Valley, they will welcome Southwest EC at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Palo Verde Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
