Softball Recap: Owensboro Catholic Find Success

After losing to Apollo the last time they met, Owensboro Catholic decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Aces walked away with an 11-6 win over the Eagles on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Aces.

Lily Medley looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Anna Beth Hamilton, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Raegan Leach also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Owensboro Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Owensboro Catholic's record now sits at 7-11. As for Apollo, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Owensboro Catholic will venture away from home to face off against Evansville Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Apollo, they will challenge Jasper at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
