Basketball Recap: Coolidge Piles Up the Points Against Eastern

Coolidge won the last time they faced Eastern, and things went their way on Monday too. The Coolidge Colts simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Eastern Ramblers 78-45.

Coolidge was led to victory by Makiah Gray and Quintin Cooper. Gray went 9 of 13 on his way to 23 points and six boards, while Cooper went 8 of 13 en route to 18 points, to go along with six rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Cooper's 21st in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Turner, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Coolidge now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Eastern, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coolidge will face off against Dunbar at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Coolidge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Dunbar likes a good challenge. As for Eastern, they will square off against Anacostia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
