Basketball Recap: Sam Franco's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Springstead over Hernando

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Springstead and Hernando, and Hernando kept the tradition alive. The Eagles fell 52-46 to the Leopards on Friday. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Leopards from their previous meeting back in January.

Springstead lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Sam Franco, who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Orlando Feliberty, who put up nine points and four steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hernando to victory, but perhaps none more so than Blake Williams, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. Azariah Graham was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Springstead's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Hernando, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Springstead will take on River Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hernando, they will square off against Trinity Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
