The Newmarket Mules will challenge the Mascenic Regional Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Newmarket will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
On Saturday, Newmarket got the win against Farmington by a conclusive 25-7. The Mules haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Emma Surina made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, Hannah Chesley was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Anika Benson was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Newmarket was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Mascenic Regional unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 14-6 to Conant. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Vikings have suffered since April 18th.
Payton Lafreniere was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Keating, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Newmarket's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Mascenic Regional, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
Monday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Newmarket has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. However, it's not like Mascenic Regional struggles in that department as they've averaged .487. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
