Softball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

Athens lost to Williamsville back in April of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Warriors came up short against the Bullets, falling 7-1.

Athens saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaci Derringer, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Athens' defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 14-7. As for Williamsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Athens will face off against Jacksonville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Williamsville, they will square off against Pleasant Plains at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
