The Madison Warhawks will face off against the Coronado Islanders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Madison easily dispatched Lincoln on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Warhawks fell just short of Morse by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday. The Warhawks' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Aniyah Shelby (2029) was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Shelby (2029) wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Rosas (2029), who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Coronado waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Hornets.
Tatum Munoz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.
On the hitting side, Natalie Fay was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. Samantha Aldworth was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Coronado's win bumped their record up to 15-7-1. As for Madison, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-8-1.
