Volleyball Recap: Ridley Takes a Loss

After flying high against Harry S. Truman on Saturday, Ridley came back down to earth. The Raiders came up short against the Springfield Cougars on Monday, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raiders of the 3-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

While Ridley was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Springfield's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-18, 25-19.

Ridley's offense was headlined by Maddie Walker and Katie Borcky, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Izzy Verlinghieri and her 11 assists. Ava Caton controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Ridley's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Springfield, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Ridley will square off against rival Conestoga at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Springfield is set to challenge their familiar foe Radnor at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
