Softball Recap: Hamilton Drops Highest Score of Season Against Chandler

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hamilton). Everything went their way against the Chandler Wolves on Thursday as they made off with a 21-6 victory. Considering the Huskies have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jazmin Ramirez was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Taylor Hampton was incredible, firing off two home runs, nine RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Amanda Benites was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Hamilton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chandler only managed six hits.

Hamilton pushed their record up to 15-6-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Chandler, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hamilton will square off against Liberty at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Chandler, they are taking a road trip to challenge Camelback at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Wolves will also cruise into their next game with the timing on their side: the Spartans will have lost seven straight heading into Monday's match.
