Softball Game Preview: Chickasaw Chieftains vs. Washington County Bulldogs

Chickasaw is 0-4 against Washington County since March of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. Chickasaw will host Washington County at 5:00 p.m. Chickasaw has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Chickasaw came up short against Vigor on Tuesday, falling 21-10.

Chickasaw saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ariel Maye-Gill, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs Maye-Gill has posted since back in February of 2024. Breanna Forrester was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Chickasaw always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .588 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Washington County came up short against Southern Choctaw on Tuesday and fell 8-5.

Chickasaw's loss dropped their record down to 3-2-1. As for Washington County, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.

Chickasaw might still be hurting after the 21-0 loss they got from Washington County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Chickasaw avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
