Preview: Claiborne Academy Rebels vs. Riverfield Academy Raiders
Claiborne Academy has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Riverfield Academy Raiders at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Riverfield Academy took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Claiborne Academy, who comes in off a win.
Claiborne Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 64-10 victory over Central School at home. Claiborne Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 42 points or more this season.
Claiborne Academy can attribute much of their success to Audrie Teutsch, who scored 22 points, and Jaylee Baird, who scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Baird has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Riverfield Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their fourth straight loss. They took a 58-39 bruising from Central Hinds Academy. While losing is never fun, Riverfield Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 139th in Louisiana, while Central Hinds Academy is ranked 31st in Mississippi).
Claiborne Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Riverfield Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Claiborne Academy suffered a grim 44-23 defeat to Riverfield Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. Can Claiborne Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
