Softball Recap: Garces Memorial Takes a Loss

If Garces Memorial was feeling good fresh off their 14-3 takedown of Clovis on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rams fell just short of the Madera Coyotes by a score of 4-3 on Monday.

Jaiden Gutierrez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Garces Memorial saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Izzy Frye, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Garces Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Madera, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Garces Memorial will take on Pioneer Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Madera, they will square off against Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Grizzlies will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Coyotes surely won't give up without a fight.
