Basketball Recap: Big Sandy Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Big Sandy can now relate to. They were dealt a 66-27 loss at the hands of the Fort Benton Longhorns on Thursday. The Pioneers just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Fort Benton found their leader in freshman Kelton Vielleux, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds. Vielleux has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Elijah Miller was another key player, going 5-for-9 to rack up 13 points.

Big Sandy's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Fort Benton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-5.

Big Sandy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 72-37 defeat against Turner on the 22nd. As for Fort Benton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-33 loss against Chester-Joplin-Inverness on the 20th.
