Softball Recap: Calvert Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

Calvert hadn't done well against Gibsonburg recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Senecas sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Golden Bears. That's two games straight that the Senecas have won by exactly two runs.

Ava Eilrich made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off ten hits. Eilrich was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Eilrich wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Addison King, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Calvert is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.2 runs. As for Gibsonburg, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 8-5 record.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Calvert will square off against rival St. Joseph Central Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Gibsonburg is set to take on their familiar foe Hopewell-Loudon at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
