Soccer Game Preview: Monrovia vs. Atascadero

The Monrovia Wildcats will take on the Atascadero Greyhounds in a tournament on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Monrovia was handed a three-goal defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene last Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over South El Monte. The score was all tied up 2-2 at the break, but Monrovia were the better team in the second half.

They hit South El Monte with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Lucas Fackrell, Ayden Sirias, and Nathan Quiroa Cortez.

Meanwhile, Atascadero kept a clean sheet against Cabrillo on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 5-0 margin over the Conquistadores. The victory continues a trend for Atascadero in their matchups with Cabrillo: they've now won four in a row.

Monrovia's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-1-1. As for Atascadero, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
