Basketball Recap: Western Hills Drops Highest Score of Season Against Carter-Riverside

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Western Hills). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Carter-Riverside Eagles 78-27. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Despite the loss, Carter-Riverside still got an impressive performance from Robert Rodriguez, who went 6 of 11 en route to 16 points and three steals. Rodriguez is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Angel Salazar also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Western Hills' victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-18. As for Carter-Riverside, their loss was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-19.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Western Hills Cougars duke it out with the Dunbar Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carter-Riverside, they will challenge Eastern Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastern Hills knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Carter-Riverside likes a good challenge.
