Basketball Game Preview: Melvindale Cardinals vs. Allen Park Jaguars

After both having extra time off, the Melvindale Cardinals and the Allen Park Jaguars will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Melvindale is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped two weeks ago as they easily beat Annapolis 87-42. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 26 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Allen Park beat Edsel Ford 57-46 two weeks ago. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 466th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Melvindale's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Allen Park, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.

Melvindale lost to Allen Park on the road by a decisive 47-28 margin when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Can Melvindale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
