Basketball Recap: Canajoharie Takes a Loss

Canajoharie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Mayfield Panthers, falling 59-34. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-54 back in December of 2024.

Mayfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Madison Case led the charge by going 7 for 9 en route to 14 points along with seven boards and four steals. Case is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Brianna Iannuzzi, who posted 19 points and seven rebounds.

Canajoharie's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Mayfield, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-5.

Canajoharie wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 66-34 loss against Berne-Knox-Westerlo on the 15th. As for Mayfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-15 defeat against Cobleskill-Richmondville on the 15th.
