Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Clinton

On Friday, the Clinton Maroons didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the New Berlin Pretzels, but they still walked away with a 51-47 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given the Maroons' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Pretzels are ranked 88th).

The victory made it two in a row for Clinton and bumps their season record up to 5-3. As for New Berlin, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clinton and Peoria Christian will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Peoria Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Clinton likes a good challenge. As for New Berlin, they will be home for the holidays to greet Shelbyville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
