Basketball Recap: Pitman Has No Trouble Against Wildwood

Pitman hadn't done well against Wildwood recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Pitman Panthers blew past the Wildwood Warriors 73-49. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Despite the loss, Wildwood saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nolan Mawhinney posted 19 points and six boards. Those six rebounds gave Mawhinney a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brian Cunniff, who put up eight points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

The victory made it two in a row for Pitman and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Wildwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Pitman and Eastern will compete for holiday cheer at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wildwood, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 67-15 win against Cape May County Tech on the 22nd.
