Baseball Game Preview: Western Heights Jets vs. Star-Spencer Bobcats

The Western Heights Jets will square off against the Star-Spencer Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Star-Spencer took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Western Heights, who comes in off a win.

Western Heights will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Guymon, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. The Jets blew past the Tigers 12-2 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jets.

Caden Wiebusch spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Western Heights' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 6-9 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Western Heights let Akin Aguillard and Keziah Howell run wild. Aguillard went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Howell scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Howell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kipp Davis, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Star-Spencer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 23rd straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 12-0 to Casady.

Western Heights' win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Star-Spencer, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.

Western Heights came out on top in a nail-biter against Star-Spencer in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. Do the Jets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bobcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
