Softball Recap: Grainger Gets the Win

While Grainger put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Cherokee. The Grizzlies walked away with a 3-0 win over the Chiefs. The victory continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Chiefs: they've now won five in a row.

The result came thanks to Shylo Williford's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grace Lincoln was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

Grainger's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Cherokee, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grainger will welcome Sevier County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cherokee, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Volunteer at 5:30 p.m.
