Basketball Recap: Sycamore Gets Big Victory over Higher-Ranked Ottawa

Sycamore posted their closest victory since November 19, 2024 on Friday. They skirted past the Ottawa Pirates 42-39. The win was all the more spectacular given the Spartans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 349th, while the Pirates are ranked 43rd).

The victory made it two in a row for Sycamore and bumps their season record up to 7-11. As for Ottawa, they dropped their record down to 13-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Sycamore will head out to face off against Morris at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ottawa, they will take on Rochelle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ottawa is facing Rochelle at the right time seeing as Rochelle is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
