Preview: New Prairie Cougars vs. South Bend Adams Eagles
New Prairie has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the South Bend Adams Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
New Prairie struggled with assists on Tuesday (Mishawaka Marian had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. New Prairie lost to Mishawaka Marian at home by a decisive 64-47 margin.
Marshall Kmiecik put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Trenton Klute, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, South Bend Adams' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 60-37 loss at the hands of Penn. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Bend Adams in their matchups with Penn: they've now lost three in a row.
New Prairie's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for South Bend Adams, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.
New Prairie was able to grind out a solid victory over South Bend Adams in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 60-49. Will New Prairie repeat their success, or does South Bend Adams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
