Basketball Game Preview: York Institute Dragons vs. Smith County Owls

The York Institute Dragons will face off against the Smith County Owls at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, York Institute was able to grind out a solid victory over Monterey, taking the game 61-49.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Smith County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They took down Watertown 51-32 on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Owls in their matchups with the Purple Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

York Institute's victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-17. As for Smith County, their win bumped their record up to 8-16.

York Institute beat Smith County 50-38 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Will York Institute repeat their success, or does Smith County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
