Lanier had won four straight games and Zach Martinez did his part to make it five on Friday. The Lanier Voks enjoyed a cozy 61-46 win over the Sam Houston Hurricanes thanks in part to Martinez, who went 13 of 24 on his way to 34 points along with seven steals and five assists. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least 17 points.

Another player making a difference was Martin Roque, who posted three points and five steals. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (three).

Lanier's victory bumped their record up to 16-14. As for Sam Houston, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-23 record this season.

Looking ahead, Lanier will challenge Fox Tech at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Lanier's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Sam Houston, they will face off against Jefferson at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Jefferson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
