Football Recap: Giltner Hornets vs. Lawrence-Nelson Raiders

Giltner lost a close one when they played last Friday but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on Friday was a bit more commanding. They were dealt a 72-20 loss at the hands of the Lawrence-Nelson Raiders. The defeat leaves the Hornets without a win on the season.

Brody Cummings and Blaydon White certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Cummings rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown, while White picked up 42 receiving yards and a touchdown. Jorden Simms-Tuxhorn got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Giltner didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Simms-Tuxhorn and Cummings.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lawrence-Nelson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jackson Williams, who rushed for 97 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries. Williams has become a key player for Lawrence-Nelson: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Frey, who threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns.

Giltner's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Lawrence-Nelson, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Giltner does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lawrence-Nelson, they will take on High Plains on Thursday. High Plains is coming into the contest with four straight wins on the road, so Lawrence-Nelson will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
