Volleyball Recap: Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 19th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Appomattox County Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

While Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Appomattox County's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-10, 25-19.

Appomattox County was led to victory by Paisley Mann and Callan Shields. Mann had 11 digs and two aces, while Shields had 30 assists and nine digs. Shields is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 22 every time she's taken the court this season. Regan Shields also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Appomattox County, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
