Basketball Recap: Holmes Triumphs

Holmes won the last time they faced Bear Grass Charter, and Chloe Chappell did her part to make sure it happened again. The Holmes Aces came out on top against the Bear Grass Charter Bears by a score of 56-43 on Wednesday thanks in part to Chappell, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Holmes' points.

Another player making a difference was Kate Foster, who posted 12 points and five steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in November of 2023.

Bear Grass Charter's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hylee(Al) Jarrett, who went 6 of 12 en route to 16 points and four steals. Jarrett is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Holly Wells also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Holmes' win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Bear Grass Charter, their record now sits at 11-6.

Holmes didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-50 defeat against Pasquotank County on the 31st. Bear Grass Charter has also already played their next match, a 56-27 victory against Cape Hatteras on the 31st.
