Baseball Recap: Eagle Gets the Win

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Eagle and Centennial, and Eagle kept the tradition alive. The Mustangs came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 6-3 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Caleb Zawadzki spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 15 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carter Ditlove, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Jack Swanstrom also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Eagle has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Centennial, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-3.

Coincidentally, Eagle and Centennial will both be playing Kuna the next time they take the field. The Patriots will host the Kavemen at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Mustangs will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
