Basketball Recap: Maize Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Maize had won two straight home games and Brayden Myovela did his part to make it three on Friday. The Maize Eagles secured a 59-55 W over the Valley Center Hornets thanks in part to Myovela, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.

Another player making a difference was Alec Grill, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. He also put up a block, which washis first of the season.

Loss or not, Valley Center got some senior leadership from Austin Saner and Bryson Saner. Austin went 7 of 11 en route to 19 points and three steals, while Bryson earned ten points along with seven boards and three steals.

Maize has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Valley Center, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.

Maize will face off against Seaman at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Valley Center, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Derby at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th. Valley Center is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.8 points per game this season.
