Preview: Cape Fear Colts vs. Western Alamance Warriors
The Cape Fear Colts will be playing in front of their home fans against the Western Alamance Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cape Fear will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
Cape Fear stacked a fifth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Gray's Creek 48-14 on the road. Given Cape Fear's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Gray's Creek is ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cape Fear's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from King Faison, who rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Faison was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Geronimo Sanchez, who threw for 110 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Western Alamance's game on Friday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Southern Alamance by a score of 16-14.
Despite the defeat, Western Alamance got a solid performance out of Evan Kuehnel, who threw for 235 yards on 12 of 24 attempts.
Cape Fear has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Western Alamance, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
